Recognising that something is wrong is an important first step, and seeking answers shows you're ready to make a change. Start by assessing your drinking habits—consider keeping a drink diary to track your consumption. Reflect on your goals: "What kind of relationship do I want with alcohol?" It's also helpful to seek support, not only from friends or family, but from clinical professionals. This way, when you're ready to make changes, you can do so confidently and safely. Ongoing counselling or joining a peer support group is highly recommended too—it can make a real difference in helping you sustain the positive changes you’ve made. Getting in touch with Lumera can be a great way to kickstart your journey.

No, you don’t need a referral. Self-referral is more than fine. However, if you have shared your issue with a GP or mental health professional, a referral will assist Jeff when completing your assessment and indicate any areas of sensitivity. A referral will also enhance the shared care relationship aspect with your health care professional team. A referral form is provided for GPs in "What We Do".
